The Hans Hansson was originally built for the Norwegian Lifeboat Association and in 2005 underwent a major renovation, including renewing the interior to provide comfortable accommodations for 12 passengers. With an informal and relaxed atmosphere on board, she has a comfortable main saloon, library & recreational area, and kitchenette.
Being a small vessel, she is able to anchor in small coves making after dinner Zodiac cruising and/or night landings possible, depending on weather and location. Hans Hansson also has a citizen science program that guests may participate in.

Why We Like Hans Hansson
-
SIZE
Carrying just 12 passengers, Hans Hansson offers a truly unique small ship experience to the Antarctic with a wonderful sense of camaraderie amongst passengers and crew.
-
FLEXIBLE
Due to her size, she doesn't need to compete with much larger vessels and can remain flexible as far as itinerary, letting the weather & ice decide when and where she goes.
-
TWIN CABINS
Twin configurations, rather than triple or quads offer additional space and comfort in the privacy of your own cabin.
-
SKIP THE DRAKE
Hans Hansson offers fly cruises departing from King George Island in the South Shetland Islands, allowing you to skip the oft-dreaded Drake Passage crossing and spend more time exploring on the Peninsula.
